Bonnie Fowler, June 2010

Hi. Some of you may know me as Bonnie Cherryholme, although my legal birth name is Catherine Bonnie Cherryholme.

I was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and lived there all my life -- well, actually the first seven years of my life were spent in Aylmer, Quebec. But the rest of my life was lived in Ottawa, until the fall of 1995 when, having met John Thomas Fowler some time earlier (isn't IRC wonderful folks?) -- he swept me off my feet and convinced me to relocate. In fact, at 3:30pm on January 25, 1997, my name changed to Catherine Bonnie Fowler. (Don't you think that has a special ring to it?)

I try to spend most of my free time researching my family tree. (I'm the cute one holding the shovel.)

Three of my grandparents were British Home Children, coming to Canada in 1911 and 1912. My fourth grandparent is a direct descendant of Louis Hebert -- the first settler to French Canada.

An Ocean Between
Back in the year 2000, my research led me to living relatives in England about whom we had no previous knowledge. It was a really exciting time for my family.

I produced a book, "The Cherryholme Brothers ... An Ocean Between" in memory of my grandfather who left his family behind in England, and his brother, whose family didn't know we existed until I found them. The book traces their line back to the late 1700s, complete with copies of birth, marriage and death certificates.

It is my intention to produce similar books on each of my other three grandparents' histories.

Natalie and Bonnie Cherryholme, c1982

I am the mother of an amazing young woman who receieved her B.A. from Carleton University in 1997. Natalie Cherryholme truly has become a young woman of whom I am very proud.

She is so wonderful, in fact, that for Christmas 1996 she bought me my high school graduation ring -- a ring she had to have made especially for me since I graduated in 1967!!!!!!!!

Natalie meets her son
June 23, 2001
On June 23, 2001, Natalie became a mother -- it was an awesome experience welcoming Marcus Paul Cherryholme-Raymond into the world. Marcus arrived at 3:29am at the Queensway Carleton Hospital in Ottawa. He weighed 6 lbs 14 oz and he is beautiful -- just like his Mom!!! View Grandma's Brag Book.

Since Marcus arrived, I haven't had quite as much time to work on my family tree as I used to. Oh well, c'est la vie!!!!!

Photo of our Cabin in the Woods

This is the home I share with John in Ramsay Township, just outside Almonte (now the Town of Mississippi Mills), Ontario, Canada.

John built the home on a game trail in 1986, intending to live like a hermit -- BUT ............ along came MOI.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

Our Wedding 25 January 1997

This is a photo of me with my daughter and my new husband on our wedding day.

Check out John's homepage or send him a note if you wish.

You can also send me a note -- I would love to hear from you.
